* CCE, SC has been providing nutrition education and counseling for elderly Schenectady County residents for over twenty years through contracts with Schenectady County Senior and Long Term Care Services (SCSLTCS). The CCE, SC Registered Dietitian provides nutrition education on a regular basis for seniors participating at Friendship Cafes or receiving home delivered meals program.
In addition,
such educational opportunities are provided upon request at:
Senior Centers,
Senior Communities,
Other Service Organizations,
Health Fairs, Job and Career Fairs, and Farmer's Markets.
* The Registered Dietitian also provides nutrition counseling for any senior participating in services offered by the SCSLTCS due to their health status or nutrition risk.
* The CCE, SC provides guidance and menu planning to SCSLTCS and Catholic Charities and to the other subcontracted meal provider, Ellis Hospital for Meals on Wheels for two of the Friendship Cafes.
* CCE, SC also provides programs by trained Master Gardeners on topics such as growing herbs and micro greens and how to use them.
Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services denies no person services or access to service based upon race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status and/or handicapping conditions. Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services is primarily funded with County tax dollars. Supplemental funding is through the New York State Office for the Aging under Title III-B/D, III-C-1, III-C-2, III-F of the Federal Older Americans Act, and New York State Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly (EISEP), Community Services for the Elderly Act (CSE), Congregate Services Initiative (CSI), and the Wellness In Nutrition (WIN).
